For the first time at Foodex Japan, an event solely focusing on desserts and
confectionery as well as teas and coffees was held. This helped to address many
of this sector's consumer needs.
The exhibition provided a platform for both sellers and buyers to conduct
business. There were approximately 95,000 buyers, distributors and retailers
from the food service.
Although there was a strong presence from the Asian region, European and
American participation was also strong.
The Singapore contingent was led by the Singapore Food Manufacturers'
Association (SFMA) and took up a total of 15 booths featuring our local products
including well-known brands such as Super, Tong Garden and many more.
BuySingapore was also at Foodex Japan to collect leads from the trade show for
its online portal. Located together with the Singapore brands, the portal had a
field day promoting Singapore-made products to foreign visitors. Japanese and
Korean visitors alone contributed to 65% of the trade leads.
The portal has gathered more than 4,000 trade leads since its inception in
November last year. Its goal is to collect 30,000 foreign trade leads this year.
The next destinations for Singapore's business matching portal will be the China
Medical Equipment Fair in Dalian, China; Hannover Messe in Germany and the Fluid
Machinery Show in China.
