Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre

Offering a world of opportunities, the World SME Expo is into its 7th edition at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The event targeted SMEs with a wealth of strategic information and fresh ideas over three days of business forums and seminars, conferences, business matching opportunities and networking events

Some 300 exhibitors from over 40 countries and regions, including government and business delegations from 14 provinces and 26 cities in the Chinese mainland, offered their assistance to help companies tap into the Chinese market.

Attracting more than 30,000 visitors to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, the fair featured two major areas, the Solutions Hall and Opportunities Hall, of which the latter is a treasure land full of market seminars and business-themed pavilions to provide market and business opportunities for SMEs. Latest market trends and opportunities in various industries were showcased to an enthusiastic crowd.  

The Solutions Hall, on the other hand, offered the most updated business solutions in all areas of business operation, including corporate management, marketing, finance, and electronic commerce, so as to help SMEs enhance productivity and competitiveness in the face of the ever-changing needs of the global market.  

Business matching appointments were held during the Expo enable trade visitors to meet with Hong Kong SMEs and enterprises from the Chinese mainland to explore partnership opportunities.

An International Business Convention was also held to spotlight the secrets to success in Asia, featuring a keynote address by Kenichi Ohmae, who has years of expertise in formulating business strategies for companies and organizations worldwide.

A business forum, Globalisation of Mainland Enterprises, was held to discuss the globalisation of mainland enterprises through enhancing corporate governance and the Hong Kong's business platform. In addition, representatives of African countries, experts, HK entrepreneur are invited to share Africa's latest business environment and practical strategies for opening up the market, as well as Hong Kong's role in this tripartite co-operation.

China's open market strategy comes with an unprecedented rise of mainland enterprises. In recent years, mainland enterprises strive for developing overseas markets and Sino-African trade has become a new focus. China is the third largest trade partner of Africa and the bilateral trade reached USD55.5 billion in 2006 and will likely increase to USD100 billion in 2010.

The strategic intent of the World SME Expo is not missed by BuySingapore, who capitalised on the huge potential of the event to market its online B2B trade lead portal to the largely Hong Kong and international trade visitors.

Meeting up with government agencies and business delegations at the fair, BuySingapore explored business partnerships and collected trade leads to add to its expanding database. It will next be attending the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2008.
